Daryl Diamond, Ph.D., is the Director of Innovative Learning & Arts for the School Board of Broward County. She supervises the Instructional Technology Department and Digital Infusion Programs creating pathways to personalized learning, Library Media Services providing engaging digital content, Instructional Resources to support 21st century teaching and learning; and Music and Performing Arts. She works with schools and their teachers with training and support to create interactive classrooms that demonstrate best practices in the integration of technology throughout all curriculum areas.
She has been an Assistant Director and an Intern Principal at Sheridan Technical College and Technical High School in Broward County Public Schools, FL. Sheridan Technical College offers postsecondary workforce development programs affording students the opportunity to gain skills in high wage, high demand occupational fields and compete successfully in the local employment marketplace. She supervised the design, development, and support of the online and blended learning environments for both the adult technical programs and the technical dual enrolled high school students. As an Intern Principal, she was the administrator of Sheridan Technical High School which was the district’s first one-to-one online technical high school. As a school of choice offering only AP and Honors level courses, students are able to receive not only a diploma but certifications in over twenty various technical programs.
Dr. Diamond’s previous work within the school district includes: Instructional Leader for Curriculum at Broward Virtual Education- the first and largest franchiser of the Florida Virtual School, Distance Learning teacher for Broward Education Communications Network (BECoN) – delivering daily lessons via videoconference to schools across the district, Project Manager Instructional Technology at the Education Technology Services (ETS) Department – managing multiple instructional technology projects in conjunction with the School District’s 5- Year Technology Blueprint, and Assistant Director at the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Department – managing the organizational change management and the training and support for the district-wide SAP implementation.
Dr. Diamond is a National Board Certified Teacher, a Florida Master Digital Educator delivering technology training to teachers and educational administrators across the state of Florida, and a Certified Distance Learning Leader. In addition to being a Board Member for the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA), she is part of the research team for the International Council for Online Learning (iNACOL). Her research work involves the scaling up of virtual schools to meet the needs of our current educational systems and to transition them into 21st century learning models. Dr. Diamond is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University with a doctorate in Educational Leadership, Barry University with a master’s degree in Educational Computing and Technology, and SUNY at Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. She is currently an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University teaching Instructional Leadership online.
