Senior Vice Presidents for Business Development and Global Affiliate Chapters

The USDLA Board of Directors believes strongly in our goal to facilitate and expand the role of distance learning throughout the world. Mike Griffith, founder of the UKDLA remarked, "These days there are no limits to distance learning, either in age of participants, or location.” By affiliating with like global organizations, promoting global collaboration and encouraging the exchange of information among our global colleagues, the benefits of distance learning are greatly enriched. Global Affiliate Chapters were established to facilitate this worthy goal.

Distance learning continues to flourish increasing the need for national and global professional associations where practitioners can come together. The USDLA is proud to be an association that provides a place for interactivity to take place.

While many countries have developed substantial associations meeting their members needs in a great way and others are just beginning national association development, having a place globally to connect is of great advantage. USDLA Global Affiliate Chapters provides a forum to access other chapters and their members across the world.

Networking among colleagues and gleaning best practices or lessons learned from fellow USDLA and Global Affiliate Chapter members has proven highly beneficial. Many are hosting conferences containing a focus on technical issues, successful programs, best practices, latest technologies, and many other topics. Listservs, distribution lists, chat rooms, websites, and newsletters are some of the other ways chapters are effectively disseminating information and support.

One message is clear. Though geographically diverse, many of us share similar issues and concerns. When dealing with distance learning, the world is not so large after all.

As Senior Vice Presidents for Business Development and Global Affiliate Chapters, we have the privilege of overseeing the relationship between the United States and our global partners. If you are looking to join in to an existing chapter, are interested in starting a new one, or have any questions or suggestions on how we might better meet your needs, please let us know. Please feel free to contact us. We would be pleased to assist.

Best Regards,
Russ Colbert & Marci Powell
